Commanders Corner January 2010 #30
A new year is now upon us, and I hope that we will continue to grow as we
have in the past. I am sure I speak for the District 12 SAL in saying I hope
everyone had an enjoyable Christmas Season.
I would like to say thank you to all of our American Legion Families that
allowed us to put our Toys for Tots canisters in their canteen areas, this past
Holiday season. The District 12 SAL with the help of the American Legion
Families has collected toys and a sizeable cash donation for the Marine Corps
Reserve this season.
Prior to our January meeting, we hosted the first "Four Chaplain Memorial
performed by the Sons of the American Legion, District 12. If you were present,
Im sure you will agree that the ceremony was an emotionally moving
event as a remembrance of those four men of God.
All of the squadron officers and members have done an excellent job building
their organization and creating an impressive appearance for not just the state, but
the country. We can all be proud of our work, and I ask that we continue to keep
up the good work and keep the membership coming in.
Lastly, my term will come to an end in a few short months, and it will be up
to you as the membership to find someone to take over as your new Commander. I
ask that each member of the District 12 Sons begin to consider candidates for the
upcoming 2010-2011 season. As always, I wish you well on your choices.
Yours in Comradeship, Dave A. Weidner District 12 SAL Commander |
